Abstract
Application of moisture repellents on walls of apartments in Capelle aan den IJssel has resulted in serious complaints and irritation of residents. The indoor air pollution by volatile organic compounds originating from the solvent of the moisture repellent was investigated. The air concentrations of volatile organic compounds, especially the aromatics, were elevated compared to normal values in apartments situated at the outer side walls. These concentrations could well explain the complaints. The air concentrations in the cavity wall space indicate that high levels might be persistent for some time.<br>
