Abstract
This document reports data on chloronitrobenzenes with regard to standards, sources and emissions, exposure levels, effect levels and risks for humans and ecosystems. On the basis of the available information it is tentatively concluded that the chloronitrobenzenes do not present a significant risk to humans or ecosystems in the Netherlands. The use of pentachloronitrobenzene has been prohibited since January 1990 and there is no indication that other chloronitrobenzenes are or will be applied, processed or emitted in the Netherlands. Therefore, it is recommended to withdraw this group of compounds from the attention substances list.
