Abstract
Rontgenonderzoeken in ziekenhuizen (vooral CT-scans) en
behandelingen binnen de radiotherapie nemen toe. Rontgenopnames in
van het Informatiesysteem Medische Stralingstoepassingen (IMS;
http://www.rivm.nl/ims).
verschillende informatiebronnen.
Both hospital X-ray examinations (especially CT-scans) and treatments in radiotherapy departments are increasing, while X-ray examinations in dental practices are now gradually decreasing after a large rise. Between the mid-1990s and the year 2000, the number of CT-scans was about 500 thousand; by 2004 this had increased to 700 thousand. In radiotherapy, especially the number of complicated treatments showed an increase. The number of X-rays used in dental practices increased from 6 million in 1998 to 9 million in 2001 and then dropped to about 8 million in 2003. All these findings can be seen in the updated version of the Information system on Medical Radiation Applications (IMS) website (http://www.rivm.nl/ims). The website shows both the number and type of medical examinations and treatments employing ionising radiation and the exposure of the Dutch population. This information is intended to stimulate optimal use of radiation in health care. This report presents recently collected information for updating the website and provides background information on sources used.
