Abstract
Het RIVM heeft het stralingsniveau bij de Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG(Nuclear Research and consultancy Group) te Petten) gemeten. Dit is op 12 september 2023 gedaan op vier locaties op het terrein.
De metingen van slechts 90 minuten geven aan dat er in deze meetsessies vrijwel geen toegevoegd neutronen dosistempo meetbaar is. Dat wil zeggen dat er bijna geen verschil is met de dosis die er van nature is. Op drie van de vier locaties is er wel een toegevoegd gammadosistempo meetbaar. Dit is gemeten binnen het terrein nabij de hoge fluxreactor en bij de productiefaciliteit van molybdeen-99.
Het RIVM heeft niet aan de terreingrens van het onderzoeksterrein gemeten. Het RIVM kan uit de metingen die wel zijn gedaan geen conclusie trekken over de blootstelling van de bevolking aan een toegevoegde gammadosis.
De metingen zijn in opdracht van de Autoriteit Nucleaire Veiligheid en Stralingsbescherming (ANVS) gedaan. Doel is te meten wat het gamma- en neutronendosistempo is dat NRG aan de natuurlijke waarde in de omgeving (achtergrondwaarde) toevoegt.
The RIVM measured the neutron and gamma doserate at the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG at Petten). These measurements were carried out on September 12th, 2023 on four locations on the NRG terrain. The RIVM measurements, lasting just 90 minutes each, indicate that during the measurement period an additional neutron dose rate can hardly be measured. This means there is almost no difference with the background neutron dose rate. On three of the four locations an additional gamma dose rate is observed. This is measured close to the high flux reactor and close to the molybdenum-99 production facility. RIVM did not carry out measurements at the outside fence of the research facilities. Based on the measurements in this report RIVM can not estimate an additional gamma dose to which the population can be exposed. RIVM was commissioned by the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS) to conduct these measurements. The aim was the measurement of the gamma and neutron dose rates that NRG adds to the local background.
