Abstract
Persistent, mobile, and potentially toxic (PM(T)) substances in the soil-sediment-water system present a significant barrier to the reuse of natural resources and the realization of a safe circular
economy in Europe. The scientific and technical solutions developed and optimized within PROMISCES are essential for dealing with PM(T) substances in the circular economy. However, the
effective implementation of these solutions also depends on social and economic conditions, and the regulatory framework. Key conditions influencing implementation include having a clear regulatory target that needs to be satisfied by the solutions, clearly defined roles and responsibilities among authorities and stakeholders, and the availability of financial resources to support adoption.
Within the PROMISCES project, a multidisciplinary approach was used to initiate the development of solution strategies that address these boundary conditions. Central to this effort are co-creation workshops designed to bring together diverse stakeholders to collaboratively identify challenges, evaluate solutions, and formulate strategies that have concrete actions. This deliverable provides guidance on how to co-create a solution strategy for dealing with PM(T)(s) in a circular economy. For this, we have used the experience and lessons learnt in the co-creation workshops organized within the PROMISCES project.
