Sports care on the map is a regional exploration of demand and usage of sports care. Sports care includes healthcare specifically aimed at the preservation, recuperation, and improvement of health of the sporting and exercising population. Because of their specific knowledge, providers of sports care, e.g. sports physicians or sports physiotherapists, are able to play an important role for people with sports-related injuries. We particularly focus on the curative aspects of sports care. Based on sports participation data for 15 major sports, we give a overview of the regional patterns of sports and subsequent expected demand for sports care.

Sportzorg op de kaart is een regionale verkenning van vraag naar en gebruik van sportzorg. Sportzorg is zorg die specifiek gericht is op behoud, herstel en bevordering van de gezondheid van de sportende en bewegende populatie. De sportzorgaanbieder, zoals een sportarts of een sportfysiotherapeut, kan door zijn specifieke kennis een belangrijke rol spelen voor mensen met een blessure. We richten ons met name op de curatieve aspecten van de sportzorg. Met behulp van sportparticipatiegegevens van 15 grote sporten geven we een beeld van het regionaal spreidingspatroon van sporten en daarmee van de verwachte vraag naar sportzorg die daaruit voortvloeit.
