Professionals die informatie zoeken over bodembeheer, de ondergrond en gebiedsontwikkeling kunnen hiervoor vanaf nu een zoekinstrument gebruiken. Op de website www.bodemvizier.nl is digitale documentatie over de bodem samengebracht, zoals rapporten, kaarten, rekeninstrumenten, beschrijvingen en analyses van praktijkvoorbeelden. Op de website staat alleen informatie die voor de doelgroep (overheden, ingenieurs- en adviesbureaus) bruikbaar is. Hierdoor is deze eenvoudiger te vinden dan via algemene zoekmachines als Google. Bezoekers worden doorverwezen naar digitale bronnen waarop de gezochte informatie staat. Bovendien worden de bronnen kort toegelicht.

Toegevoegde waarde
Veel van dergelijke documentatie is momenteel wel op internet beschikbaar, maar moeilijk te vinden. Hierdoor kan het gebeuren dat een organisatie dubbel werk doet, door bijvoorbeeld een handleiding te schrijven die al bestaat. De website is in samenwerking met Rijkswaterstaat Leefomgeving (voorheen Agentschap NL) ontwikkeld. Het ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu (IenM) evalueert na een jaar hoe BodemVizier gebruikt wordt en of de toegevoegde waarde van de zoekmachine wordt benut.

Duurzaam gebruik ondergrond
De Nederlandse ondergrond wordt steeds meer benut voor kabels, leidingen, waterberging, bescherming van archeologische vindplaatsen, enzovoort. Voor een duurzaam gebruik van de ondergrond is het van belang het gebruik en de inrichting van de ondergrond goed af te wegen. Gemeenten en provincies bepalen welk ondergronds gebruik het beste op welke locaties past.

De website is een praktische uitwerking van de beleidsvisie van het ministerie van IenM Duurzaam gebruik van de ondergrond uit 2010: de juiste informatie over de ondergrond toegankelijk maken. De samenhang tussen de beleidsvisie en BodemVizier wordt in onderliggend rapport toegelicht. Daarnaast staat in een handleiding beschreven hoe BodemVizier werkt.

The Dutch website www.bodemvizier.nl is a collection of digital documentation on soil. It includes: reports, maps, math tools, descriptions and analyses of case studies. The website contains useful information for the target group only, i.e. governments, engineers and consultants. This enables people to find relevant information more easily than through general search engines like Google. Visitors are directed to digital resources on which the requested information is available. In addition, the sources are explained briefly.

Added value
Many of the documents on the website are currently available on the Internet, but are hard to find. This could, in theory, lead to an organization duplicating work, for example, writing a manual that already exists but has not been found. The website has been developed in collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat Leefomgeving (formerly AgentschapNL). After one year, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (I&M) will evaluate how the BodemVizier website has been used and whether the benefits of the search engine have been exploited.

Sustainable subsoil use
The Dutch subsoil is being used increasingly for cables, pipes, water storage, protection of archaeological sites, and so on. To ensure a sustainable use of the subsoil, it is important to weigh up the use and design of the subsoil well. Authorities at local and regional level determine at which locations the subsoil can be best used.

The website is a practical implementation of the 2010 policy of the Ministry of I&M "Sustainable use of the subsoil" which aims to make the right information on the subsurface available. The link between this policy and BodemVizier is explained in the current report. In addition, there is a manual that describes how the BodemVizier website works.
