Abstract
The nuclear power plant at Borssele (KCB) measures the release of radioactivity into wastewater and atmosphere. The RIVM performs eight times per year a counter expertise on these measurements. This form of counter-expertise is aimed at verifying and supporting the reliability of the analyses carried out by the KCB plant. The samples of waste water and ventilation air are taken by KCB at various time points dispersed throughout the year. The samples of waste water and ventilation air are taken by KCB at various time points dispersed throughout the year. In ventilation air both KCB and RIVM did not find any gamma activity. The data for 3H and 14C, which were collected by a zeolite cartridge in the first and second quarter of 2017, show good agreement (3H) and reasonable agreement (14C). RIVM carried out this counter-expertise on behalf of the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS).
