Risk assessment to humans afer exposure to substances. Starting points and assumptionsPubliekssamenvatting
Abstract niet beschikbaarThe revision of the Soil Clean-up Guideline in the Netherlands requires a sound toxicological base for the criteria to be set in case of soil pollution in relation to possible measures to be taken. The report describes the starting points and assumptions generally taken into account in preparing a risk assessment for humans after exposure to chemicals. Direct and indirect exposure are distinguished as well as the oral, dermal, and inhalatory route. To derive the C- (testing) values in the Soil Clean-up Guideline special attention has to be given to ingestion of soil particles, soil contact, inhalation of air, consumption of crops, and consumption of drinking water. Furthermore a distinction is made between substances with and without a threshold value.
