    Title
    Translated Title
Confirmational analysis of Nicarbazine in poultry feed by combined liquid chromatography/ infrared spectrometry
    Publiekssamenvatting
A pilot study has been carried out into the usefulness of combined liquid chromatography and infrared spectrometry to confirm the abuse of the anticoccidial drug Nicarbazin in samples of poultry feed. A method has been developed based on the identification of the active component of Nicarbazin, 4,4'-Dinitro-carbanilide (DNC). The principle is concentration of the extracted sample on a trap column followed by column-switching and back-flush gradient elution over a capillary analytical column. IR-detection is carried out after elimination of the mobile phase and deposition of the eluate on an IR transparant substrate by a spray-jet interface. The limit of identification of DNC in samples is estimated as 40-60 ng injected, depending on the matrix. This corresponds with approximately 1 mg/kg (1 ppm) in the original material.
