    Publiekssamenvatting
    De uitbarsting van de IJslandse vulkaan Eyjafjallajokull op 14 april 2010 heeft in Nederland geen risico's opgeleverd voor de volksgezondheid. Hoewel er door de heersende windrichting as van de vulkaan over Nederland is getrokken, is er nauwelijks as op leefniveau terecht gekomen.
    Dat heeft het RIVM geconcludeerd in diverse adviezen die tussen 15 en 29 april 2010 zijn uitgebracht. Dit rapport bundelt de adviezen en geeft enkele aanknopingspunten voor de beoordeling van een eventueel toekomstige situatie, in het geval een vulkaanuitbarsting zou leiden tot de verspreiding van vulkaanas naar Nederland. Het betreft de analyse van regenwater, de inschatting van risico's bij inademing van vulkaanas en de inname van elementen uit de as bij consumptie van gewassen.

    The eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull on 14 April 2010 did not lead to any risks to public health in the Netherlands. Although ash from the volcano was blown over the Netherlands by the prevailing winds, hardly any ash was deposited on the ground.
    This conclusion is based on the RIVM recommendations, made between 15 en 29 April 2010, which are bundled in this report. This report also provides a departure point for assessing a scenario in which a volcanic eruption does lead to the spread of volcanic ash in the Netherlands.
    The risk assessment was based on rainwater analysis and an assessment of the risks of inhaling volcanic ash and of the intake of elements from ash via the consumption of fruit or vegetables.

    Export search results
