Evaluatie van de dioxine-emissies van de afvalverbrandingsinstallatie in DuivenTranslated Title
Evaluation of the dioxin emissions of the municipal solid waste incinerator in DuivenPubliekssamenvatting
Abstract niet beschikbaarEmission measurements at the municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) AVIRA in Duiven show an average dioxin concentration in the stack gas of ca. 6 ng TEQ/Nm3 (dry, 11% oxygen). This concentration is considered to be low for this type of installation, when compared with other types of MSWIs in the Netherlands. The yearly emission of dioxins from this installation is estimated at ca. 6 g TEQ. The contribution of the AVIRA to the maximum deposition is estimated at 20 ng TEQ/(m2.year) at 700 m North-East of the installation. Background depositions are estimated at 5 ng TEQ/(m2.year). In the period January-March 1990 the dioxin level in milk of a dairy farm near the AVIRA was ca. 9 pg TEQ/g milk fat, which might be explained by high levels in silage. The dioxin concentration in silage will be measured. In the period May-December 1990 the level in milk was ca. 4 g TEQ/g milk fat. This concentration is higher than the background level of 0.8-2.5 pg TEQ/g milk fat and lower than the standard of 6 pg TEQ/g milk fat. From the measured emission a dioxin concentration of ca. 2 pg TEQ/g milk fat is predicted in the deposition maximum with a model system. It is recommended to determine the dioxin concentration in soil in the vicinity of the AVIRA in order to investigate the difference between the predicted and the measured dioxin level in milk.
