    Title
Verkenning van mogelijkheden van gebiedsgericht ammoniakbeleid in de provincies Gelderland en Noord-Brabant
    Translated Title
An investigation of the possibilities of area-oriented NH3 abatement policy in the provinces Gelderland and Noord-Brabant.
    Publiekssamenvatting
The atmospheric input of potential acid, total nitrogen and NHx has been estimated for several selected receptor areas (gridcells of 5 x 5 km2) in the provinces Gelderland and Noord-Brabant. The deposition calculations are made for the years 1986, 1994 and 2000 using the expected development of emissions in The Netherlands and surrounding countries. For the situation in 1986 the deposition target of 4000 eq H+/ha/y, proposed for the year 1994, is exceeded in all receptor areas in both provinces. In 1994 in Gelderland in 64% of the receptors the target value is exceeded ; in Noord-Brabant the atmospheric acid input is strongly reduced (from an average value of 7050 eq H+/ha.y it drops to 5150 eq H+/ha.y) but the deposition target is still exceeded in all receptors. In the year 2000 in Gelderland in 92% of the receptors the target proposed for this year is exceeded, in Noord-Brabant in all receptors exceedance is expected. In a number of scenario calculations the effectivity of regio-oriented NH3 abatement policy has been investigated. In Noord-Brabant extremely high emissions reductions (more than 90% with respect tot the 1986 emissions) are needed to approach the deposition targets for potential acid and total nitrogen. For Gelderland it is concluded that the deposition targets for total-N and potential acid can be closely met in a limited number of receptor areas in the Gelderse Vallei and the Achterhoek. However, this requires that emissions are reduced to 10 and 20 kg NH3/ha.y in these specific receptor areas and the direct neighbouring areas, respectively.<br>
