    Title
    Translated Title
Viral zoonoses with a risk for the Dutch Public Health
    Publiekssamenvatting
Zoonotic infectious diseases can be defined as 'Diseases transmitted between animals and man'. Zoonotic infections have been emerging and re-emerging throughout history and can cause serious diseases and disease outbreaks in human populations. The Microbiological Laboratory for Health Protection (MGB) of the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands, is charged with risk assessment of various microbiological hazards and will develop activities in the field of viral zoonoses. This report deals with viral zoonotic infections that can be a hazard for the human population in the Netherlands, and offers a perspective for priority setting of research in this field.
