Dioxinen in koemelk van UiterwaardenTranslated Title
Dioxines in cow's milk of river forelands in the NetherlandsPubliekssamenvatting
Results are presented of measurements which have been carried out in thirteen monthly averaged samples collected in July 1993. The samples were taken at individual farms of which a substantial part of its lactating cattle had been grazing in the river forelands. In addition, the respective farms were chosen in downstream areas for which an elevated load with sludge deposits was expected. The study shows a good agreement between the dioxin levels in the cow's milk samples investigated with those reported for samples of individual dairy farms located in background areas. The mean dioxin level of 1.8 pg (i)-TEQ/g fat appeared to be comparable with national background levels and individual values (range: 1.0-3.4 pg (i)-TEQ/g fat) were far below the Dutch standard of 6 pg (i)-TEQ/g fat for dioxins in cow milk.
