    Voor de Europese kaderrichtlijn Water (KRW) heeft het RIVM de kwaliteit van het grondwater van drinkwaterwinningen in Nederland geïnventariseerd. Per winning is onderzocht of de gemiddelde grondwaterkwaliteit aan de normen voldoet, welke stoffen er worden aangetroffen en welke ontwikkelingen er door de jaren heen te zien zijn. Dit is gedaan voor de kwaliteit van het grondwater tussen 2000 en 2018. Deze informatie wordt gebruikt om elke zes jaar de concentraties van stoffen in de desbetreffende grondwaterlichamen te duiden. In de onderzochte periode blijkt bij 92 van de 156 winningen het ongezuiverde grondwater (ruwwater) enige mate van verontreiniging te bevatten. De belangrijkste probleemstoffen zijn gewasbeschermingsmiddelen, oplosmiddelen en andere industriële stoffen. Ten opzichte van de vorige inventarisatie (2000-2012) waren de ontwikkelingen zowel positief als negatief: sommige concentraties nemen af, andere nemen toe. Op 21 locaties is de concentratie van 13 verschillende stoffen gestegen. Het gaat in totaal om 36 combinaties van stoffen en locaties ('stijgende trends'). Op 23 locaties is de concentratie van 16 verschillende stoffen afgenomen. Het gaat in totaal om 41 combinaties van stoffen en locaties ('dalende trends'). Bij een aantal winningen zijn de concentraties van stoffen voor het eerst gestegen. Veel van de stoffen met normoverschrijdende concentraties zijn ook in andere studies gezien. Voor de beoordeling van de grondwaterwinningen voor de drinkwatervoorziening zijn de data van REWAB (Registratie Waterkwaliteit Bedrijven) onder andere vergeleken met normen uit het Drinkwaterbesluit. In de REWAB-database rapporteren drinkwaterbedrijven over de drinkwaterkwaliteit in Nederland.
    RIVM has carried out a survey of the quality of the groundwater used for drinking water extractions in the Netherlands within the framework of the European Water Framework Directive (KRW). An analysis was carried out for each production site to determine whether the average groundwater quality complies with the standards, which substances are present, and which trends can be seen over the years. This was carried out for the quality of the groundwater between 2000 and 2018. This information is used to gain insight into the concentrations of substances in the groundwater bodies concerned every six years. Over the period investigated, the untreated groundwater at 92 of the 156 production sites was found to contain some degree of contamination. The most important problematic substances are pesticides, solvents, and other industrial substances. In comparison to the previous survey (2000-2012), there were positive as well as negative developments: some concentrations decreased whereas others increased. At 21 locations, the concentrations increased of 13 different substances. A total of 36 combinations of locations and substances were observed in upward trends. At 23 locations, the concentrations decreased of a total of 41 substances. A total of 41 combinations of locations and substances were observed in downward trends. At a number of extraction sites, the concentrations of substances were, for the first time, found to increase. Many of the substances found at concentrations that exceeded the standard were also found in other studies. Data from REWAB (Drinking water companies database on water quality) was also compared with the standards in the Water Decree for the evaluation of the groundwater extractions used for the production of drinking water. Drinking water companies report on the quality of drinking water in the Netherlands in the REWAB database.
