Sinds 2015 onderzoekt het RIVM de effecten van de invoering van integrale bekostiging van de geboortezorg. Dit onderzoek richtte zich specifiek op het cliëntperspectief, dat in eerdere evaluaties vaak ontbrak. Het doel was om te bepalen welke thema's voor cliënten belangrijk zijn en daarom een rol moeten spelen bij evaluaties en beleidskeuzes over bekostigingshervorming in de geboortezorg. Uit interviews met recent bevallen vrouwen kwamen vooral onderwerpen naar voren rondom de persoonlijke zorgervaring en in mindere mate bredere systeemthema's zoals kwaliteit en toegankelijkheid, waar de overheid en zorgverzekeraars meer op gericht zijn. Daarom vormt het cliëntperspectief een waardevolle aanvulling op de huidige evaluatiethema's voor de bekostigingshervorming in de geboortezorg.

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) has been studying the effects of the introduction of bundled payments for maternity care since 2015. This study focused specifically on the client perspective, which has been lacking in earlier evaluations. The aim was to identify which themes are important to clients when assessing payment reform in maternity care. Interviews with maternity care clients mainly revealed topics related to their personal care experience. System aspects such as quality and accessibility, which tend to be the focus of government and health insurers, received less attention from clients. This makes the client perspective a valuable addition to the current evaluation themes for payment reform in maternity care.
